Cook Islands issued a silver 5 dollars coin holding a Lunar meteorite for celebrating the 50th anniversary of LUNA 3 mission and the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11.

In 2009 Cook Islands issued 3 different commemorative coin each holding a meteorite. One was issued to celebrate the International Year of Astronomy, the next to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11, and this third one to celebrate both the 50th anniversary of LUNA 3 and Apollo 11. The Soviet Luna 3 was the first satellite that photographed the far side of the Moon. The Apollo 11 was the first spacecraft that shipped humans to the surface of another celestial body, to the Moon. The obverse of this silver medal shows the visible side of Moon. A small lunar meteorite piece is attached to it. The hardly readable legend below is in two lines: "THE FIRST MAN ON THE MOON", and "40TH ANNIVERSARY OF APOLLO 11 1969 - 2009".
