The five largest moons of Saturn was discovered shortly after the invention of telescopes. The development of telescopes resulted a growing number of moons and their number is increasing even today.

Probably the most famous discovery of William Herschel was the Uranus. In addition using his high-power telescope he also saw two new Saturn's moons , Enceladus and the Mimas. These three major events and the famous astronomer are commemorated by Wolfgang Günzel's 88 mm diameter  medal. On the obverse the portrait of Herschel appears to the left, in the legend around his name and dates of birth and death appears. Below the artist's signature is visible. On the reverse the Saturn's rings and two satellites are pictured. The legend around is: "HERSCHEL ENTDECKTE 1781 DEN PLANETEN URANUS UND 1789 DIE SATURNMONDE MIMAS UND ENCELAUS" means Herschel in 1871 discovered the planet Uranus and in 1789 Saturn's moons Mimas and Enceladus.

Mercury and Venus has no any moon, the two tiny moons of Mars were undiscovered of the production of this token.

Modern coins and medals often display the Solar System, but from most of them the moons of planets are missing. One of the several exception is an 500 Tugrik coin of Mongolia that remembers Isaac Newton the “genius of the millennium”. The revers of the coin displays the planets of Solar System, their path around the Sun, and two comets viewed from ‘above’. Saturn stands on the right with its rings, and five small dots pictured around it are the main moons .
