Palau issued a silver 5 dollars coin holding a piece of the Nantan iron meteorite.

The obverse of this silver medal shows a rural scene with a yoke of oxen and a ploughing peasant, above them a meteorite shower. Above the oxen a small piece of Nantan iron meteorite is attached. Legend is: "NANTAN METEORITE FALL - MAY 1516". The date refers to the possible date of meteorite fall. The date of issue was 2006, which hardly can be seen at the front leg of the left oxen.

The reverse follows the usual design of Palau coins, the coat of arms and the face value of the coin: "5$". The coin has a 38.61 mm diameter, 25 gram weight. It was made of 925 fine silver with proof technique and was minted in 2500 pcs., according to its certificate. Legend is: "REPUBLIC OF PALAU".
